For millions of people around the world, drinking contaminated water and lack of adequate sanitation is a dangerous reality. EWB-KC is working alongside the community of La Cuchilla in the Dominican Republic to develop sustainable infrastructure to fix these problems. This community is facing severe problems: irrigation canal water is mixing into the municipal water system and contaminating the drinking water, inadequate water storage leaves the community vulnerable to insect-borne diseases such as Malaria and the Zika virus, and there is currently no sanitary system. You can help Cuchilla reach their goals of eliminating water borne illnesses and impact the lives of many in need.

As part of this partnership (five years or more) we are committed to develop sustainable and effective solutions alongside the community members. The community will be the driving force and will provide labor, maintenance, and some materials for this project. However, the average yearly income for families living in Bateys, sugar cane camps, is about $1,500 USD, so to cover the majority of the project costs we need to raise some funds.

You can support our goal of building a better tomorrow for Cuchilla by making a donation today! Even a small donation of $5 can make an impact.

If you can’t make a donation at this point, help us reach our goal by sharing this page on Facebook and Twitter! Or, even better, send an e-mail to friends you think might be interested in contributing and include a link to our page!

You can also visit for more information on EWB-KC and updates on Cuchilla as well as other projects our chapter is involved in.

We truly appreciate any support you can provide. Thank you!
