EWB-KC 2015 Officers:

President: Dan Kienitz – Black & Veatch


Dan Kienitz graduated in 2008 and 2010 with his BS and MS in Civil Engineering from Missouri University of Science & Technology. While in school, he worked on projects in Guatemala and Haiti for the student EWB chapter. He currently works for Black & Veatch as a Structural Engineer in the Energy Division. When away from work, he enjoys cooking/barbequing and going to different sporting events. 



Vice President: John Amos – Burns & McDonnell


John graduated Missouri University of Science and Technology in 2012 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. Since then, he has enjoyed his career at Burns and McDonnell working in Telecom and Network Engineering in the Transmission and Distribution industry. He joined EWB-KC in 2014, and has contributed to many local volunteer efforts around the Kansas City and Missouri area. John began his role as Vice President of the Kansas City chapter in 2015.




Secretary: Karie Kneller - Louis Berger Group


Karie grew up in Kansas City, MO and is a recent graduate of University of Missouri-Kansas City (2014) where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning and Design. Her interest in developing countries and travel began in 2010 when she helped with the recovery effort following the devastating earthquake near Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Since then, Karie has been involved in delivering humanitarian aid in Lusaka, Zambia and Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Karie is looking forward to helping carry out the mission of EWB and having more life-changing experiences along the way!



Treasurer: Nancy Liang – Trinity Consultants


Nancy joined EWB-KC in 2011 shortly after she moved to Kansas City. She earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Kansas, and is now working as an environmental consultant for Trinity Consultants. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and learning more about different cultures through their food. She is always on the lookout for good Chinese food that reminds her of home!



University Chapter Liaison: Jaci Ferguson – EPA


Jaci has worked at the U.S. EPA as an environmental engineer in various programs - drinking water and watershed management, emergency planning and community response (EPCRA), and Superfund. She has also served in the U.S. Army Reserves as an environmental engineer, participating in several international humanitarian missions focusing on community health issues.




Events Chair: Rachel Grodsky – Kansas City Plant


Rachel Grodsky graduated with a degree in Ceramic Engineering from Missouri University of Science & Technology.  She has travelled to the Dominican Republic and Panama as a professional member of EWB.  She loves to play volleyball and travel and is looking forward to organizing EWB events at different venues in KC! 



Web Chair: Kevin Robinson – Black & Veatch


Kevin graduated from the University of Kansas with B.S. in Civil Engineering in 2012. He began his career at Black & Veatch first working in the Telecom division and later in the Energy division as a Civil/Structural Engineer. In his free time he enjoys reading, running and traveling.



Fundraising: David Catt - Black & Veatch


David graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Kansas and now works on water and wastewater projects in the Kansas City Regional Office for Black & Veatchs Water Division. His prior work experience includes water policy research in Washington D.C. David is originally from Kansas City.



International Project Manager: Desiree Beardmore – ENERCON


Desiree Beardmore graduated from Missouri University of Science & Technology (Rolla) with a bachelors in Nuclear Engineering in May 2014. She currently designs system upgrades for nuclear power plants and hardens distribution feeders at ENERCON. While in school she worked on several projects in Bolivia for the student EWB chapter. In her free time, Desiree enjoys hiking and a variety of art projects.



Outreach: Daniel Nabelek – Burns & McDonnell


Danny graduated from the University of Missouri with his BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering in 2014. While there he was heavily involved in EWB-MU leadership and had a part in that organization's successful Ciudad Espana, Honduras program. After joining the Telecommunications & Network Engineering department of Burns & McDonnell, in the Spring of 2014, Danny has continued to work with EWB through the Kansas City Chapter. Danny greatly enjoys sharing a beer, photography, hiking, and light/friendly games of soccer.
